SHOW BUSINESS
AD-AS (Boise, Idaho) designs and manufactures height-adjustable products for healthcare, education, kitchen and bath, and workplace settings. Last fall the company received a phone call from the producers of NBC's prime-time drama Providence. The plot of upcoming episodes required a set with a wheelchair-accessible kitchen.
In two episodes, one of the main characters, Joanie, developed a love interest in Phil, who has a disability. The two spent time at his apartment, where the Boise company's Approach™ for the Sink system was a visible part of the set. The programs aired on January 25 and February 1, 2002.
The height-adjustable Approach™ for the Sink allows wheelchair users to raise and lower their sinks from 28 to 36 inches at the push of a button. Raised to 36 inches, the sink matches the counter height of standard base cabinets. Infinite height adjustments are reportedly possible for counter widths ranging from 36 to 48 inches.
